Cops in Lucknow took a seized Mahindra Scorpio out on a joyride and soon found themselves trapped inside the car. Here’s what happened.
This Mahindra Scorpio owner was in a shock but at the end, might have had a laugh or two. After a dispute with a local due to monetary issues, Lucknow police seized the car of the deceased. After the dispute was resolved, the owner Akhand Singh, was politely asked to collect his Scorpio back from Gomti Nagar Police Station, Lucknow.
However, when he reached the station, the owner found his car missing. Due to many theft cases in the city, the owner had installed an aftermarket GPS tracker with advanced mechanism. So, he could literally track the car on his phone, even if the car was not switched on. That’s when he came into a shock.

The owner found this Mahindra Scorpio some 143 kilometres away from the city. As soon as he saw the location on his phone, he switched off the engine and locked the car through the phone itself. Once the command was sent, the system on the Scorpio received it and immediately, the car was locked from outside and the engine was shut.
The cops who were out on a joyride were themselves in a shock because they did not understand what just happened. After being trapped inside the car for nearly two hours, they had to request the owner to let them out of the car. The owner then played it smart by ensuring that the car was first in the city limits of Lucknow.
Later, the cops confessed that they had gone to take a statement of a person involved in a murder case. They took out the private car for investigation purposes without checking it with the owner. The cops involved were suspended and the most senior officer, in this case, was sent to the lines.
