A 42-year old guy busted by the police was found in possession of 26 iconic rally cars from the 80s and 90s, the stuff that makes up dream garages. It all came to light in the search of a three-ton industrial generator.
We all have had that conversation with our friends where we have wanted to loot a bank and then build our dream garage from that stolen money. But here’s a shocking revelation of someone who has been doing just the same. Well, he has not literally been looting a bank to build his dream garage but the case is somewhat similar. A 42-year old guy from Spain was found in the possession of 26 cars in his garage. These 26 cars were just not any random set of cars but the collection included homologation rally cars and some brilliant machinery on wheels from the 80s and the 90s.
But why did we draw the reference of looting a bank to build a dream garage? Well, here’s the story. It all surfaced when the Erzaintza police in Spain were investigating the theft of a three-ton industrial generator. Their search led them to a woodland farm in Gretaria region of Spain where the police finally found the generator and also the truck that was used to steal it. It was also discovered that the suspect had two firearms, a taser and about $10,000 in cash as well. Suspecting some more revelations, the police got a warrant to search the premises and that finally led them to what must have been a dream garage.
Some of these cars are absolute gems and genuine rally winning machines from the yester years. The Erzaintza Police Department released some photos which showed a very tasteful collection of cars. What’s more? All these cars looked in good shape and seemed like they were genuinely cared for. This could genuinely be one of the most tasteful garages from around the world for rally car enthusiasts if you were to look past the robbery side of it.

The garage inlcuded cars like the E30 BMW M3, Ford Escort RS Cosworth, a Ford Sierra RS500 Cosworth, a mid-engined Renault 5 Turbo hatchback, a Peugeot 205 GTI, a Mercedes-Benz 190E Cosworth Evolution II in blue-black shade, and there even seems to be a Lancia Delta HF Integrale Evoluzione 1 Martini 6. If this is not enough to impress you, then the garage also had several generations of the Mitsubishi Lancer including the IV, VI, VII and even the EVO 6.5 Tommi Makinen Edition. Some cars were even found with forged chassis numbers and are believed to have been stolen from across the continent.

The police also say that these cars could have been headed for some illegal sale or auction, considering how rare they were. It’s really ironical how a three-ton industrial generator led to such a revelation but we must admit that the thief has a really good taste in cars. Looking at the condition of the cars, we are also happy that these cars were well kept. We hope these cars find their way back to their owners or are auctioned off in a proper manner.
