Maruti Baleno is one of the most popular hatchbacks in the market right now, along with being one of the best selling. While the original Baleno was discontinued almost a decade ago, the sedan version was converted into a hatchback and relaunched in 2015. For those who have the older model, here’s how you can convert into a new one.
A owner of a pre-facelifted old Maruti Baleno in Kerala has converted his car to the latest version from the outside. You can see the changes made to the front portion. These include a new mesh grille, new headlamp design and the latest bumper design with revised fog lamp housing.

From the front, it definitely looks like the latest model and there’s no chance to differentiate between them. The rear portion of the hatch has not changed much over the years. The total cost incurred by the owner was Rs 18,000 for the conversion. However, this also includes the labour charge.
Approximately Rs 10,000 was paid for the new headlamp design and new bumper. We cannot see the wheels but looks like they have been kept in the original shape. The alloy wheel design has also changed over the years. Although, there has been no major change in the cabin except a new touchscreen infotainment system.
Baleno now comes with a 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 83 PS and 113 Nm of peak torque. Gearbox comes paired with a 5-speed manual and a CVT gearbox. Prices start at Rs 5.64 Lakhs up to Rs 8.96 Lakhs (ex-showroom). Features onboard include LED headlamps, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment, dual airbags, rear parking camera, ABS with EBD and much more.
