Condition of EV Charging Stations
This post has been shared by faadtechnician Instagram. It captures the experience of a Hyundai IONIQ 5 owner. He lists out the number of charging stations that are in his vicinity. He decided to test out the condition of these chargers. Shockingly, almost none of the four charging stations that he visited was functional. The condition of the charging infrastructure including the socket and the panel was horrendous. In one of the charging equipment, water had crept in and destroyed the confidence. The man who is responsible for maintaining this station told the EV owner that this charging location has been in such conditions for a long time now.

What We Think
Despite the rapid growth of the EV industry, we are still at a nascent stage. There are tons of challenges to deal with, some of these are rather common including initial costs of electric cars, the lack of charging infrastructure and range anxiety. But we will also have to take a look at the condition of the existing charging infrastructure and its maintenance. If EV owners are not able to trust the charging infrastructure, there will be a huge problem in the mass adoption of eco-friendly vehicles.
