Despite seeing huge success with the new 2020 Mahindra Thar, the manufacturer has decided to discontinue the base-spec AX variants. As per the company, the base-spec AX variants were not getting much demand and has decided to make the AX (O) as the base variant now. So, the prices start at Rs 11.9 Lakhs instead of Rs 9.80 Lakhs (ex-showroom).
The AX (O) variants lose out on all the premium features that the LX variant offers, but still, AX variant feels more reliable for off-roading. Here is the entire list of features and highlights of the new Thar base variant.

Looks like the owners of the AX (O) variants of Thar will have to put in extra efforts for some hardcore off-roading. Thar is powered by a 2.2 Litre turbo-diesel engine and a 2.0 Litre petrol engine. While both the engines come with a 6-speed MT and a 6-speed torque converter options, the AX (O) variants only get a manual gearbox. It is also offered with a hard top and soft top option.
