The sales figures for the compact SUV segment in July 2021 are out. This is officially the most crowded segment in our market. Almost all the major players have their compact SUVs competing in this space. Also, it is one of the fastest-growing segments in India in recent times. People who initially considered a premium hatchback, for instance, now have the option of going for a compact SUV with the latter costing around the same range. The credit for that goes to the likes of Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger. Let us take a look at the individual performances of compact SUVs for July 2021.

Compact SUV Sales July 2021
Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza – 12,676 Units
The most popular compact SUV in the country managed to sell over 12,600 units in July 2021. This figure is substantially higher than around 7,800 units it sold in the same month last year. Brezza is likely to receive a facelift soon and there might be the reintroduction of the diesel mill.
Tata Nexon – 10,287 Units
Tata Nexon is becoming ever-so-popular among the buyers that it is the first time that it has broken into the top 10 cars sold in a month. In July 2021, Tata sold over 10,200 units of its 5-star NCAP safety-rated compact SUV in comparison to a mere 4,300 units a year ago.

Hyundai Venue – 8,185 Units
The popular compact SUV from Hyundai, the Venue, managed to cross the 8,100 unit mark in July 2021. In July 2020, Hyundai dispatched around 6,700 units of the Venue.
Kia Sonet – 7,675 Units
The Sonet continues to rake in a ton of sales for Kia month after month. The feature-packed compact SUV sold over 7,600 units in July 2021. It was not launched in July 2020 and hence, there is no year-on-year sales comparison.

Mahindra XUV300 – 6,027 Units
The 5-star NCAP safety-rated compact SUV from the homegrown carmaker crossed the 6,000-unit barrier last month. In comparison, in July 2020, Mahindra managed to sell only around 2,500 units of the XUV300. A more powerful Sportz variant of the XUV300 is about to launch as well with Mahindra’s own 1.2-litre direct injection turbo petrol engine from the mStallion family.
Nissan Magnite – 4,073 Units
The most affordable compact SUV in the country, Nissan Magnite, continues its impressive run at the box office, ensuring that the company remains profitable. Apart from the 4,073 units of the Magnite, Nissan has sold only 186 cars overall.

Renault Kiger – 3,557 Units
The second-most affordable compact SUV, Renault Kiger, has also shown consistently decent sales figures. July 2021 saw Renault selling over 3,500 units of the Kiger.
Urban Cruiser – 2,448 Units
Toyota Urban Cruiser sold over 2,400 units in July 2021. The badge-engineered Brezza has been a major contributor to Toyota’s monthly sales.
Ford EcoSport – 1,635 Units
The updated SE variant of the Ford EcoSport has brought in some freshness to the aging compact SUV. In July 2021, Ford sold over 1,600 units of the EcoSport compared to over 2,400 units in July last year. It is the only compact SUV on the list to see a decline in sales.
