The astronomical rise in petrol and diesel prices is forcing car owners to look for alternatives and aftermarket CNG and EV conversion kits are gaining traction.
This post talks about the comparison between a CNG and an EV conversion kit. We have seen the fuel price skyrocket in the last few years. Also, we don’t see any reason for them to come down in the future either. Hence, people are beginning to look for alternatives. The EVs are quite expensive at the moment and the lack of charging infrastructure is a huge issue as well. In recent times, even CNG prices are beginning to rise exponentially. Hence, an aftermarket EV conversion kit looks like the next best thing.

Still, you will get the benefits of the hybrid powertrain including lower emissions and high fuel efficiency. In fact, you won’t have to burn a hole through your pocket to get it installed. A regular kit costs around RS 70,000 which is a fair bargain and there are many companies that have started doing it like KPIT, Revolo, AltiGreen, etc.

CNG vs EV Conversion Kit
There are a few major differences between the two. For the CNG kit, you will need to get a massive cylinder placed in the boot of the car which eats into the luggage space significantly. On top of that, you need to visit a CNG station to get the gas refilled every time. Finally, the prices of CNG have risen quite sharply in the last few years. On the other hand, the installation doesn’t eat up so much space in the car, the battery doesn’t need to be charged and the mileage is enhanced. Hence, it looks like such kits could serve as a great solution to bridge the gap until EVs become more feasible.
