Citroen C3X crossover sedan is coming soon to the Indian market. It might be the next-generation iteration of the iconic Ambassador car.
Citroen is all set to launch a new crossover sedan (codenamed C3X) in the Indian market. According to recent reports, the company might be introducing it as the next-generation iteration of the Ambassador. The iconic Indian sedan has been missing for a while. The unique sedan is expected to be launched sometime in 2024. It will compete with the likes of Honda City and Hyundai Verna. The crossover sedan will be based on the all-new Citroen C3.

PSA Acquired Ambassador Brand in 2017
In February 2017, the French automotive group PSA partnered with CK Birla Group to manufacture and sell vehicles/ components in India by 2020. It also acquired the Ambassador brand and its trademarks in a deal worth Rs 80 crore. Now, the French automotive group is expected to revive the iconic Indian brand with a new sedan. While the company has not confirmed any details about the Next-Gen Ambassador, it is tipped to be the next Citroen C3X crossover sedan.
The upcoming car is expected to feature a similar design as the C3 and the C3 Aircross. On the front, it will sport the signature Citroën Y-shaped LED headlamps and the famous double grille. On the side, it is likely to feature thick black claddings and other rugged styling cues. The Citroen C3X crossover sedan is likely to sport a tapered roofline on the back which will offer a sporty coupe-like appearance. Just like the C3 Aircross, the Citroen C3X crossover sedan will be based on the CMP modular platform. It is expected to measure around 4.3-4.4 meters.

Citroen C3 X Specs & Features
Overall, the mid-size sedan will feature a unique design. It is likely to share multiple design elements with its Citroen siblings. It will be powered by a 1.2-liter turbo-petrol engine that offers a maximum power of 110 hp and 190 Nm of torque. For transmission, it is likely to come with a six-speed manual gearbox. The company might offer an electric powertrain option as well. Additional features will include a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and a 7-inch (17.8 cm) color TFT cluster screen.

The Next-Gen Ambassador is expected to come with a price tag of Rs 12-20 lakh. It might be launched in June or July 2024. An electrified variant might come in January 2025. New reports suggest that the Stellantis-owned French automotive giant is implementing an offensive product strategy to capture a bigger market share in India. It plans to launch multiple models in the Indian market. With Ambassador in the name, the upcoming mid-size sedan is bound to get extra attention from customers.
