Citroen C3X Crossover Testing
The French carmaker is working on its core plan of grabbing more market share for itself on the back of SUVs. The C3X crossover will be based on the recently launched C3 Aircross mid-size SUV. This category of SUVs is in high demand in our market. In fact, the prominent models in this category include Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and Maruti Grand Vitara. Hence, Citroen wants to leverage its C3 Aircross to come up with a slightly unique iteration to achieve a crossover silhouette. The aim is to leverage the powertrains and platform from its other models to add another model to the portfolio. These images barely show the size of the vehicle. But it looks almost identical to the C3 Aircross.

As it shares the platform with the C3 Aircross, the upcoming model would feature the same powertrain. This suggests a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine, delivering 110 hp and 190 Nm of power and torque. Currently equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission, the possibility of an automatic gearbox may arise later. It will be interesting to see how the market responds to a high-riding sedan in the midst of the prevailing SUV era.
