- Based on the ICE version, the Citroen C3 Electric will rival the upcoming Tata Punch Electric
- The upcoming EV will likely take 45 minutes to gain 83% charge
The Citroen C3 has been a solid crossover-style hatchback that locks horns with the Maruti Ignis and Tata Punch. Now, the French automaker is close to bringing an all-electric version of its entry-level model. The Citroen C3 electric is expected to be launched early next year. The test mules have already started appearing across the country. Recently, a test unit of the eC3, as the upcoming model will likely be called, was spotted at a charging station. Visually, the eC3 could be almost completely similar to the ICE version.

Citroen C3 Electric
As you can see above, the Citroen C3 electric test mule is at a Zeon Charging public electric vehicle charging station. It is completely undisguised and likely a base variant. However, only the rear-end is clearly visible. The charger is attached to the front right fender. In previous spy shots, the car was covered with camouflage. Another spy shot even showcased the charging station’s screen. Apparently, the vehicle took around 45 minutes to charge to 83 percent.
In terms of design, the Citroen eC3 looks similar to the Citroen C3. That said, the electric version of the crossover-hatchback will be powered by a single electric motor that will produce around 84 BHP of maximum power and 143 Nm of peak torque. The 30.2 kWh battery is said to offer a slightly longer range than its rivals. For example, the Tiago EV offers a range of 315 kilometers on a single charge. We will have to wait and watch how the new hatchback performs in the real-world situations.
7-seater Version to Rival Maruti Ertiga
Citroen is also developing a seven-seater SUV. It will be built on the same CMP modular platform. The compact SUV might also be available in a five-seater version. It will compete with the likes of the Maruti Ertiga and Kia Carens. Test mules of the upcoming Citreon SUV have been spotted across the country (Pune, Manali, etc). It has been given the codename CC24. Additionally, the company is working on a CNG variant of the C3. It is likely to go on sale next year.

Citroen C3 hatchback is based on the CMP modular platform. It will also be used as the basis for the C3 SUV. The wheelbase of C3 measures 2.54 meters. However, the SUV will feature an extended wheelbase, close to 2.62 meters. The length should be close to 4.40 meters (same as the Jeep Compass). The French automaker is also likely to take components from the C3 hatchback. This will allow them to keep the SUV’s price affordable. In summation, we are likely to many interesting Citroen models in the coming year.
