The French carmaker is bringing in new products for its India operations frequently as it had promised back in 2021 when it launched the C5 Aircross.
Even thought the global unveil of the Citroen C3 Aircross is merely a few days away, a fully camouflaged test mule has been seen yet again. Citroen will unveil the C3-based model in India on April 27. The French auto giant currently sells the premium C5 Aircross and the compact crossover hatchback C3 in our market. There is also the electric version of the latter. Introducing the C3 Aircross should help its carmaker grab a bite of the larger pie that is India’s mid-size SUV segment. Players from every corner of the industry operate in this highly lucrative segment. Let us see what the C3 Aircross could bring to the table to differentiate itself from the crowd.

These images have been shared by b.choww on Instagram. The SUV is under heavy camouflage, but the silhouette is unmistakably Citroen. In fact, the images have been taken from all corners, giving us the overall impression of the body type. It is clearly a shoe size larger than the donor model, which means it enjoys a higher road presence. The wheelbase looks large from the side profile. It is based on the highly successful CMP platform that underpins countless cars under the Stellantis banner worldwide. Also, the regular C3 boasts this platform.

At the front, one could make out that there will be the expected split headlamp setup with LED DRLs on the bonnet and the main headlight cluster on the bumper. The double Chevron Citroen grille will be carried over. On the sides, the wheel arches are quite imposing, and the straight roofline toward the rear ensures a bold stance. At the rear, the roof-mounted spoiler and large taillamps are apparent, with reflector lights on the bumper. All in all, it would measure around 4.2 m in length and bear a proper SUV look.

We expect the C3 Aircross to come powered by the same 1.2-liter turbo petrol engine that the regular C3 also comes with. It churns out a rather respectable 110 hp and 190 Nm of peak power and torque, respectively. Citroen has not announced which transmission options will be available with the C3 Aircross, but we will get to know that soon enough. This powertrain will be comparable to the lower-end versions of models like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, VW Taigun, MG Astor, and Skoda Kushaq. While competition will be fierce, an entry into the rapidly growing segment could help Citroen India consolidate its position.
