It is a widely prevalent fact that there are tons of Chinese car manufacturers who simply imitate the design of foreign cars and this is a prime case in point.
In the latest development, a Chinese carmaker has copied the latest Land Rover Defender. We have seen on so many occasions that Chinese automakers blatantly end up imitating popular cars from prominent carmakers from time to time. China is home to an incredibly high number of small-scale automobile manufacturers. Its market size is huge which is why a cheaper local alternative to premium car is a trend that people love. This time around, though, the copycat car comes from Chery, one of the bigger carmakers of the country. Chery recently showcased the Jetour Traveller SUV that borrows design elements from the iconic Land Rover Defender.

Detour Traveller is a Copycat Land Rover Defender from China
Chery is a Chinese auto-giant and Jetour is its sub-brand. The latter developed this copycat SUV that is aimed at offering customers hardcore off-roading capabilities at a relatively affordable prices. Constructed on a ladder-frame chassis, the natural traits of the SUV lend well toward it being a proper off-roader. However, it is the aesthetics that are the highlights of this vehicle. The front section features a massive rectangular grille with almost round LED headlamps with LED DRLs surrounding them, the bumper looks particularly rugged with a couple of tow hooks which is rather common on off-roading products, a tall bonnet with an upright stance, and auxiliary lamps on the bumper stacked vertically. On the sides, the typical boxy silhouette resembles the Land Rover Defender with prominent square wheel arches, black side pillars, side steps and roof rails. At the rear, the tailgate is flat with a spare tyre and compact LED taillamps and a rugged bumper completing the exterior.

Specs
In terms of specs, the Jetour Traveller is planned to be equipped with all sorts of powertrains including a turbo-petrol, a petrol-hybrid and an a PHEV version. Among them, there is a 1.6-litre turbo 4-cylinder engine with a 7-speed DCT gearbox, a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine with an 8-speed automatic transmission and a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged engine working in tandem with an electric motor. All the versions get 4-wheel-drive hardware.
