Official- Chevrolet Sail Launch In India By Mid 2012, Sedan By 2012 End– To Challenge Dzire And Etios
General Motors’ subsidiary Chevrolet has made its mark in the Indian automobile market with cars like Chevrolet Spark and Chevrolet Beat small cars and also presented its potential in the sedan segment with Chevrolet Cruze. But the only model which missed on impressing the customers was Chevrolet Aveo and Aveo U-VA which are soon to get replaced by a new model.
Chevrolet Sail is the new car in the pipeline waiting to rush into the market and with its sedan and small car models, the is speculated to replace Aveo U-VA and Aveo sedan. The Sail is a China-specific car and will be launched by the year 2012.
Both the sedan and hatchback models have a number of similarities as Maruti Swift and Maruti Swift Dzire do and would possibly turn out to be serious threats to all other cars in the market.
Chevrolet Sail Sedan And Small Car Specifications In India
Initially the Sail will be offered with two engine options – 1.2-liter S-TEC II and 1.4-liter S-TEC III engines. The 1.2-liter engine achieves best in class fuel economy of 5.7 L/100 km generates maximum power of 53.1 kW/L, enabling it to go from 0 to 100 km/h in 12.9 seconds.
The 1.4-liter engine offers more power than the hatchback model which is 54.3 kW/L, enabling it to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 11.9 seconds along with a fuel economy of 5.9 L/100 km.
