General Motors (Chevrolet) India sustained its sales in the month of November 2011 compared to the sales number of November 2010. There has been a slight increase of 0.76% in sales by GM India selling 8440 cars in November 2011 compared to 8376 cars in November 2010. This is a decent number in the situation when the top car makers of India are facing slowdown in double digit percentages. A large part of sales of Chevrolet India has been the Chevrolet Beat Diesel which has been selling quite well since its launch in India because of its optimum price, high mileage and good value package with low running cost as it runs on Diesel which is far cheaper in India than the Petrol.

Commenting on the performance, Mr. P. Balendran, Vice President, General Motors India, said “We have been able to sustain the growth primarily due to the encouraging response to Chevrolet Beat. Other carlines like Chevrolet Cruze and Chevrolet Tavera have also generated the volumes on the expected lines. The market, however, continues to remain sluggish due to unprecedented hikes in interest rates, fuel prices, commodity prices, growing inflation and negative market sentiments. These factors are putting lot of pressure on the automobile market.”
