Chevrolet India (General Motors) has sold a strong 10,062 units of cars in October 2011 among the festivities in India. This number looks impressive, but what is more interesting is that more than half, about 53% of the total sales comprised of the Chevrolet Beat small cars only. With the launch of Chevrolet Beat Diesel which delivers a very good fuel economy that too on Diesel making it a very cheap car to run, has attracted a lots of buyers.

Commenting on the performance, Mr. P. Balendran, Vice President, GM India said, “We have been able to sustain the growth primarily due to the good sales of Chevrolet Beat Diesel which continues to be in good demand. Other carlines like Chevrolet Cruze and Chevrolet Tavera have also generated volumes on the expected lines. We are planning to ramp up production of Beat Diesel to meet the growing demand for the product in the coming months. We remain committed to fully leveraging our resources to offer customers across the country best-in-class products and services that meet their unique needs. The market, however, continues to remain sluggish due to unprecedented hikes in interest rates, fuel prices, commodity prices, growing inflation and negative market sentiments. These factors are putting lot of pressure on the automobile market”
