Here is a video which shows the capability of the new 2020 Mahindra Thar as it goes through a nice jump while off-roading.
The launch of new Mahindra Thar is just around the corner and we are seeing a lot of feedback from prospective buyers coming in. The off-roader has received a complete makeover in terms of shape, design, engines and features. Everything has been changed just to make the new Thar much more better.
Thar uses independent double wishbone front suspension and a Multilink Solid Rear Axle at the back, both with a stabiliser bar and coil over damper. The ride height has been increased overall and the suspension is towards the softer side. The result of which, you can see in the above video which tests out the suspension properly.

Actually, you might feel that the car is about to topple as the left front side falls first. However, due to the installation of a rollover bar, that is taken care easily. We do not need what happened to the car afterwards, but if it braved through this test easily, then the new Thar is very capable.
For off-roading, the new Mahindra Thar will get traction control, hill hold and descent control and brake locking differential. Also, it will come with a 4X4 drivetrain as standard fitment with a low range transfer case gearbox. The water wading capacity if of 650mm and the ground clearance stands at 226mm.
The new Thar will sport all new petrol and diesel engines. It gets a 2.0 Litre petrol engine that is good for 150 BHP and 320 Nm of peak torque. The 2.2 Litre mHawk diesel engine produces 130 BHP and 320 Nm of torque. Both of them receive transmission options of either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic.
