Mahindra has officially shared some videos where you can see the adventure and off-roading capability of the new Thar!
Mahindra is all set to launch the new generation Thar in the month of September. We have already driven it for a brief period and witnessed it from very close. For those who are considering buying it for off-roading purposes, we have some videos where the new Thar is going through some serious adventure.
Here’s one video where you can see the Thar going through all sorts of terrain. First it starts off on a smooth tarmac, followed by a muddy trail. Later, you can see it going through a steep slope and that’s where the off-roading trail starts. It goes through water, sandy region and much more!

The video also shows the off-roading highlights like the departure angle, approach angle and water wading capability. Other than that, it comes with a 4X4 drivetrain with low range transfer case, electronic locking differential, electronic braking differential, hill hold and descent control and traction control.
Here’s another video where you can see the new Mahindra Thar going through rock climbing, slushy roads and bonnet level water. Other features onboard the Thar will include powerful headlamps, cruise control, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, steering mounted audio controls and 16-inch alloy wheels.
To clear all the confusion, the new Thar will come in three roof formats. First one is a Hard Top Roof which cannot be removed by your hands but with the help of mechanic or so. Then, you will get a soft top roof which again, cannot be removed and will remain exclusive to the AX variant. The last one with a soft top roof which can be removed to make it a convertible.
Engine options will include a 2.0 Litre petrol that produces 150 BHP/320 Nm and a 2.2 Litre turbo-diesel that produces 130 BHP/320 Nm. Both the engines receive a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. The prices are expected to start off at around Rs 9 Lakhs up to Rs 13 Lakhs (ex-showroom).
