Maruti Suzuki has recalled 13157 diesel engine cars for a defective bolt in the connecting rod of the diesel engines for the engines manufactured between Nov 13, 2010 to Dec 4, 2010. The cars which are suspected to have these faults include 4505 Maruti Swift Dzire Diesel, 6841 Maruti Swift and 1811 Maruti Ritz Diesel. You don’t need to panic if you own one of them, Maruti has setup an online page where you can check whether your car is impacted by this fault or not. You can simply enter your car’s engine number and check whether you need to take it to Maruti Service center for free replacement of the connecting rod bolts.
Here is the Maruti Official Page for checking if you car has faulty engine or not. Maruti will proactively contact the customers having faulty cars and will repair such engines free of cost. These kind of recalls are not common in India, but its good to see the car makers acting responsibly and proactively to avoid any mishaps.
