1978 BMW 320i
The first product in the car collection of Elon Musk was the 1978 BMW 320i. Now, you might think that a BMW is a luxurious car but it wasn’t the case back in 1978. In fact, Musk purchased it for just $1,400 US. That reflects his humble beginnings. Being an innovative person, he fixed and modified it himself as per his wishes. However, one of its wheels came off when Elon was at his first company after which he decided to sell the BMW off.

1997 McLaren F1
The Elon Musk garage even has a 1997 McLaren F1. It was bought after he did away with the BMW 320i. He bought this car when his first company got sold off. He was quoted saying in various interviews that the F1 is the best car in the world. He used it for a long time but met with an accident after completing over 11,000 miles in it. He used it as his daily car to work and travelled frequently from LA to San Francisco. However, he was a bit concerned about the media writing so much about his F1. He sold the supercar in 2007 at a profit.

Tesla Cars
Now, it goes without saying that there are numerous Tesla products in the car collection of Elon Musk. He is responsible for, single-handedly, transforming the EV industry back when there was not much awareness on a large scale about the technology. That resulted in him establishing the biggest EV company in the world, Tesla. When Tesla products are the torch-bearers of the electric revolution, it is understood that he would own some of his company’s automobiles too.

Elon Musk owns the 2008 Tesla Roadster. But it is the most special and unique car in the world simply because of the fact that it exists among the stars, literally. Elon sent the Roadster to the space as a part of one of his space missions. He fitted a dummy astronaut in the driver’s seat of the Tesla Roadster and sent it to the space. One can even track the exact location of his Tesla in the space. It used to cost over $250,000 US even back then.

The preferred choice of wheels for Musk is the practical Model S. In fact, it is the most popular car in the fleet of Tesla purchased by most people. It strikes a great balance between affordability, comfort and performance. That is why it is considered as the product to beat among the new comers in the EV space. It was in this model that Musk introduced the Ludicrous Mode inspired by his BMW M5 modified by Hamann. But he wanted to make it even more powerful and quick which led to the creation of the Model S Plaid which is the among the fastest production cars today.

He has also been spotted with the Tesla Model X. It is an electric SUV with side-opening doors. In fact, he was inspired to design the Model X after his learnings from the Audi Q7 that he once owned. He was quite vocal about not liking the German luxury SUV which is why he took all the lessons from it and designed the Model X. Moreover, he also drives around in the much-awaited Cybertruck that was unveiled in 2019 but the mass production is yet to commence.
