The Chinese carmaker has been in the process of expanding its portfolio in India and it added a new electric coupe SUV to the lineup
The BYD Sealion 7 has officially been revealed in India at the ongoing Bharat Mobility Expo 2025. BYD is among the biggest carmakers in the world. In fact, it even sold more EVs in the final quarter of 2023 than Tesla. Hence, it is clearly emerging as a superpower in the new-energy vehicles market. Furthermore, it has been expanding outside China to capture the global markets with its price-effective product range. In India, it sells the Atto 3, Seal and eMAX 7. With Sealion 7, this will intensify its presence even further.

The performance electric SUV will take things even further for the Chinese car marque. It embodies the brand’s “OCEAN X” design language. The EV comes with a premium appearance with almost Seal-like LED headlamps with sleek LED DRLs. Apart from that, the flowing bonnet creases integrated neatly into the bumper with rugged elements on the lower section. On the sides, there are squared-off wheel arches, elegant alloy wheels, flush-fitting door handles, black side pillars and a sloping roofline to complete that coupe shape. At the rear, the electric SUV boasts a roof-mounted spoiler, slating rear windshield, connected LED taillamps, boot lid-mounted spoiler and a sporty bumper. All in all, the SUV certainly offers an imposing road presence.

Specs
In terms of specifications, the BYD Sealio 7 is quite impressive. This starts with its Blade Battery with a capacity of 82.5 kWh and 91.3 kWh. Apart from that, there is Intelligent Torque Active Control (iTAC) and the CTB (Cell To Body) architecture along with the worldโs first mass-produced 8-in-1 electric powertrain. This incorporates crucial components like VCU, BMS, MCU, PDU, DC-DC controller, onboard charger, drive motor and transmission into a single package.
Also, the iTAC system smartly redistributes drive torque via torque shift, precise torque reduction and negative torque output to minimize or eliminate skidding. The WLTP range on a single charge in the RWD iteration is 482 km and 455 km in the AWD version. Also, the top trim boasts a range of over 500 km. Using all its potential, the acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h comes up in just 4.5 seconds. It has a top speed of 250 km/h. Let us see how well the customers embrace it.
