The Chinese carmaker has been expanding its lineup in the Indian market consistently over the last few years
We recently conducted an acceleration test of the BYD Sealion 7. The electric SUV is the latest offering from the Chinese car marque in India. In essence, it is the SUV iteration of the Seal sports electric car. BYD has expanded its footprint in India with products at multiple price points. On top of that, it is ensuring that it undercuts the legacy carmakers by a significant amount and offers much more tech and performance. Only time will tell how well the customers embrace these EVs. For now, let us take a look at the details of the acceleration test.
BYD Sealion 7 Acceleration Test
We recently got some time with the EV. During our review of the BYD Sealion 7, we decided to put the EV through its paces to analyze the real-life performance. In the first lap, the electric SUV accelerated from a standstill with vigour and reached 100 km/h in just 4.18 seconds. Furthermore, it clocked 120 km/h in just 6.09 seconds. That is supercar territory which is especially impressive for an SUV. For the second lap, the 0 to 100 km/h sprint came up in 4.23 seconds, while the EV reached 120 km/h in 6.17 seconds. I must admit it is one thing to read the performance specs on paper and quite another to experience in the real world.
