BMW has launched both the 8 Series Gran Coupe and M8 in India from the 8 Series range and its price starts from Rs 1.3 crore and goes up to Rs 2.15 crore for the M8 (all prices ex-showroom).
BMW have launched their flagship 8 Series range in India. This is the second high profile launch in the country following the 2020 Jaguar F-Type facelift amidst the lockdown. BMW will be offering the flagship 8 series in two variants in India – the 8 Series Gran Coupe (4-door) and the M8 (2-door). The BMW 8 Series price in India starts from Rs 1.30 crores (ex-showroom) and the cars will come to the country as completely built units. Here’s a detailed price list of the entire BMW 8-Series range in India.
BMW 8 Series Variants | Price (ex-showroom) |
840i Gran Coupe | Rs 1.30 crore |
840i Gran Coupe M Sport Edition | Rs 1.55 crore |
M8 | Rs 2.15 crore |
The BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe and the M8 are powered by two different engines. The former gets a 3.0-litre inline-six cylinder engine under the hood that produces 340hp of power and 500Nm of torque. The engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox with power being sent to the rear wheels only. BMW claims the 0-100kph sprint comes up in just 5.2 seconds. The BMW M8 is however the real deal. The M8 is powered by a 4.4-litre V8 engine that produces 600hp and 750Nm of peak torque. This engine also comes mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox but power is sent to all four wheels in case of the M8. The M8 does the 0-100kph sprint in just 3.3 seconds.
BMW’s 8 series range of cars are stunningly beautiful looking machines. The long hood with flowing lines and creases and the stunning silhouette give the car a lot of sex appeal. The front end of both the cars are quite similar but each car gets their own individual bumpers. But both the cars look aggressive with swept back LED headlamps, blacked out kidney grilles and large air dams on the bumpers. Their difference is most notable in their side profile where the Gran Coupe is a 4-door while the M8 is 2-door sports coupe. At the rear, the sloping roofline with swept back LED tail lamps and aggressive looking bumpers round off the look. The M8 gets some additional M touches like the bespoke ally wheels, M-brake callipers and an M-bading on the front fender.

On the inside, both the cars have an identical dashboard layout. The dashboard design is BMW’s latest interior design theme and its different from the 7-series we see in India. Perceived quality of the interiors are also much more premium and opulent than other BMW models. Identifiable elements on the interiors include the iDrive infotainment system that is still operated by a swivel wheel. Along with an infotainment screen, you also get a fully-digital instrument cluster. This being a flagship BMW, there’s of course lots of customization options for both the interiors and the exteriors.
