Baashyaam Yuvaraj, a prominent figure in Chennai’s construction scene, recently took delivery of the the first-ever Rolls Royce Spectre EV in India. As the owner of Baashyaam Constructions, he now enjoys the privilege of being the first in the country to possess this exquisite all-electric Rolls Royce that costs a whopping Rs 10 crore. While there have been many reports on the arrival of the first Spectre in India, the pictures from the delivery event have left the internet abuzz. All I needed was a quick look at some of the Tweets to figure out what the chattel is about.

India’s First Rolls Royce Spectre
Rolls Royce Spectre, the British automaker’s debut in the electric vehicle realm, has made its way to India! The car is a private import. Valued at approximately Rs 9 crore, excluding showroom charges, and around Rs 10.5 crore on-road, it inherits the legacy of the Phantom Coupe. The Spectre’s electric powertrain produces 577 hp and 900 Nm of peak power and torque, respectively. This allows a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of just 4.5 secs. The driving range is approximately 520 km on a full charge. There’s even an option of 200 kW DC fast charging.
Interestingly, Baashyaam Yuvaraj could get his hands on the fine piece of machinery ahead of its official launch. The electric luxe barge is scheduled for a domestic launch next year. While more Indians would possibly own this luxury chariot in the coming time, the Chennai builder is currently the only Spectre-owner in the entire country. Images from the delivery event have been doing the rounds of the cyber space. These photos have sparked diverse reactions, encompassing appreciation, amusement, and astonishment, particularly in response to the substantial price tag associated with the vehicle. Notably, there’s something else that has caught the attention of many – Yuvaraj’s choice of footwear. The buyer is seen wearing slippers (chappals). This is something that has left people amused.

Netizens Applaud Simplicity
Mostly, X users were in awe of the simplicity of the buyer. One user wrote: “Love their swag of coming in chappals to receive their Rolls Royce. [They are not unkempt or trying to be hipster. It is just the way they are. Thats what makes them different from idiots who try hard to show they are ‘cool’.] Another user says, “Irrespective of the wealth and status all Chennai dudes are dressed like this with those same sandals.”
