When latest technology falters, tradition and rather unconventional solutions step in. This is exactly what happened in Rajasthanโs Kuchaman City, where opposition leader Anil Singh Medtia’s MG ZS EV broke down mid-way.
Rajasthan Leader’s MG ZS EV Breaks Down
Medtia is an opposition leader of Kuchaman Nagar Parishad in Deedwana district. He was driving his electric car on crowded streets. Suddenly, the car halted without any warning. With no towing services readily available, Medtia took help of local farmers who offered their bullocks for towing services. As the bullocks pulled the electric car, road users took out their smartphones to capture the episode. From the looks of it, Medtiaโs struggles with his MG ZS EV arenโt new. According to the opposition leader, this wasnโt the first time his car let him down.
In fact, he claimed to have visited the service centre 16 times in a year to address recurring issues. Despite these efforts, the problems persisted. โThe vehicle has been a constant source of trouble,โ Medtia shared. He also highlighted that the carโs performance fell significantly short of the promised standards. Even on the day of this incident, the car was fully charged. โThe company has not provided any resolution,โ Medtia added. The video of bullocks towing the EV instantly went viral, sparking debates about the reliability of electric vehicles. Some social media users raised concerns about EV infrastructure in rural areas. One common thread in the discussions was the contrast between traditional and modern solutions. While EVs are marketed as the future of mobility, this incident highlighted the gaps in support infrastructure, especially in semi-urban and rural regions.

My Thoughts
This incident underscores the challenges of adopting electric vehicles in areas where infrastructure hasnโt caught up. Charging stations are sparse, service centres are far apart, and immediate roadside assistance is often unavailable. These factors make it difficult for EV owners in such areas to rely solely on their vehicles. Despite this mishap, the push for electric vehicles in India remains strong. Government incentives, environmental benefits, and lower running costs continue to make EVs an attractive choice.
However, incidents like this highlight the need for a more robust infrastructure and reliable vehicles to ensure a smooth transition. Anil Singh Medtiaโs ordeal paints a clear picture – While the promise of electric vehicles is undeniable, their success hinges on addressing real-world challenges in areas where support systems are still developing.
