Here is a detailed comparison between the mileage of BS6 Volkswagen Polo against the likes of Maruti Swift, Hyundai Grand i10 and Ford Figo.
The deliveries of BS6 Volkswagen Polo MT has commenced across the country. The 1.0 Litre MPI engine of the Polo has been retained. The higher-end variants get a new 1.0 Litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that is more powerful than the earlier turbo unit. The new engine comes mated to a 6-speed MT and a 6-speed torque converter AT.
Now, VW has revealed the official mileage figures of the BS6 Polo. We have prepared a comparison chart with its rivals in the segment:

As you can see, the Polo MPI offers the least mileage figures of 17.75 kmpl. In comparison, its TSI engine offers more mileage and even more power, with the option of an AT as well. However, TSI variant will be tad costlier than the regular ones.
Moving on, Swift is the most fuel efficient car in this segment offering 21.2 kmpl, as claimed by ARAI. The Grand i10 Nios is second in line offering 20.7 kmpl. Both of them get the same engine capacities, offer very similar power figures along with same choice of gearbox options.
Lastly, we have the Ford Figo which is the second most powerful in this segment and also in the completel hatchback class. With its 1.2 Litre three-cylinder unit, it produces 95 BHP and offers an efficiency of 18.5 kmpl. This is just a bit better than Polo TSI.

Although, if we compare the prices of Polo against these hatchbacks there is a huge difference. The prices of Polo start off at Rs 5.83 Lakhs going up to Rs 9.13 Lakhs (ex-showroom). This puts the Polo in competition with a segment above.
