With the BS6 update, the base price for the Volkswagen Polo remains the same but overall prices have gone up by Rs 4,000. As for the BS6 Vento, overall prices have gone up by about Rs 10,000.
Volkswagen has launched the BS6 compliant Polo and Vento in India. Price for the BS6 Volkswagen Polo starts from the same Rs 5.82 lakh as the BS4 model, while prices for the BS6 Vento start at Rs 8.86 lakh. With this BS6 update, Volkswagen has dropped all but one of the existing engines in the Polo and Vento. That includes the 1.5-litre TDI diesel, the 1.6-litre MPI petrol unit, the 1.2-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine as well as the 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox.
In BS6 form, the Polo Trendline, Comfortline and Highline Plus variants will be powered by a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder, naturally aspirated MPI engine. The engine comes mated to a new 6-speed manual gearbox. As for the Highline Plus and GT variants of the Polo, they will be powered by a new 1.0 TSI turbo-petrol engine which produces 110hp and 175Nm of peak torque. This engine can either be had with the new 6-speed manual or the new 6-speed torque convertor automatic transmission.
Although Volkswagen has kept the base price of the BS6 Polo same as its BS4 counterpart, overall prices for the Polo 1.0 MPI have increased by about Rs 4,000. Interestingly, the now top-spec Polo GT with the new 1.0L TSI engine and the 6-speed automatic gearbox is Rs 17,000 less expensive than the previously available top-spec Polo GT with the 1.2 TSI and 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. But enthusiasts should be looking forward for the Polo GT 1.0L TSI engine with the 6-speed manual gearbox.

As for the BS6 Vento, the 1.6 MPI and 1.2 TSI have both effectively been replaced by the 1.0 TSI engine. A 6-speed manual gearbox is standard across the range whereas the the 6-speed torque converter automatic can only be had on the top-spec Highline and Highline Plus variants. Comparing the prices with the BS4 spec Vento, the base price of the car has gone up by Rs 10,000 higher. The top-spec BS6-compliant automatic Vento variants cost about Rs 12,000 more than their BS4 counterparts.
