Skoda has launched the BS6 Superb facelift in India for a starting price of Rs 29.99 lakh for the sportline variant and Rs 32.99 lakh for the L&K variant. Prices for the Superb have gone up by almost Rs 4 lakh.
Skoda has finally launched the BS6 Superb in India after a long gap since it was discontinued in the BS4 era. The 2020 Skoda Superb comes with subtle cosmetic changes on the inside and outside but the bigger change is its heart. The 2020 BS6 Skoda Superb is available in two variants – Sportline and Lauren & Klement (L&K). The Superb Sportline variant is available for a price of Rs 29.99 lakh while the Lauren & Klement (L&K) variant has been priced at Rs 32.99 lakh, all prices, ex-showroom. The prices of the 2020 Skoda Superb has gone up by almost Rs 4 lakh, with the BS4-spec car retailing between Rs 26 lakh to Rs 31.50 lakh.
For the subtle styling updates, the 2020 Superb gets new full LED Matrix headlamps, the first for any Skoda car. The headlamp cluster itself is sleeker than before and has new detailing as well. The air dam on the bumper now stretches across the entire width of the car and also houses the newly designed LED fog lamps. Also, the signature butterfly grille gets a wider chrome band around it. At the rear, the Skoda logo has been substituted with the SKODA lettering written in bold.
There are quite a few visual differences between the Sportline and the L&K variants. The Sportline variant gets a blacked out grille, black ORVMs, a contrast roof and gloss black inserts on the bumpers and along the window line as well. The L&K variant gets chrome for all the gloss black trim on the Sportline variant like the grille, bumpers and windown line. The ORVMs are however body colored in case of the L&K. Also, the alloy-wheel designs for both variants are very different. The Sportline gets very sporty looking alloys while the L&K takes a classier approach. On the inside, the Superb Sportline gets an all-black theme, and contrast red trim to accentuate its sportier persona.
On the inside, the Skoda Superb facelift has a new virtual cockpit instrument cluster, and VW’s latest infotainment system. The infotainment screen has been slightly redesigned and a new wireless charging feature has also been thrown in the mix. Other features carried over from the previous car include powered and ventilated front seats, three-zone climate control, Kanton audio system, front and rear parking sensors, hands-free parking, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, cruise control, ambient lighting, sunroof, powered tail gate and more. The L&K Superb comes with dual-tone black-and-beige upholstery.

The big news for the Skoda Superb facelift is however what’s under the hood. The 1.8L TSI and a 2.0L TDI engines from the previous car have been discontinued and in places comes a new 2.0L TSI petrol engine. This is the sole engine option on offer. The engine produces 190hp and 320Nm of peak torque comes mated to a 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic gearbox which has been carried over from the pre-facelift car. The new 2.0L petrol engine produces 10hp and 70Nm of more torque than the outgoing 1.8L petrol engine. The new Superb is expected to be a little more sprightly in terms of performance than its predecessor. And as we have already reported, there will be no diesel engine option for the new Superb.
