Mahindra introduced the BS6 Scorpio with a reshuffled variant and powertrain options and now, we have a detailed variant-wise features list of the BS6 SUV.
Mahindra launched the BS6 Scorpio in India just over a week back. The starting price for the BS6 Mahindra Scorpio is now pegged at Rs 12.40 lakh and tops out at Rs 16 lakh for the top-spec S11 trim, all prices ex-showroom. With the BS6 update, Mahindra has reshuffled the variant lineup of the Scorpio and there are several changes on the mechanical front as well including this discontinuation of powertrain options and all-wheel drive. Here we have a detailed features list of the BS6 Mahindra Scorpio.
The previous top-spec 4WD S11 variant has been discontinued completely along with the base-spec S3 variant. Earlier, it came with two engine options out of which, the 2.5 Litre diesel engine for the S3 variant has been discontinued. Now, BS6 Mahindra Scorpio comes with a single 2.2 Litre four-cylinder turbo diesel engine, that produces 140hp and 320 Nm of peak torque. A 6-speed manual gearbox comes as standard. The 2.2 liter engine was also offered in a lower-spec tune with 120hp but that option too has been discontinued.
Mahindra is being stingy with the current-gen Scorpio because there’s a brand new generation of the Scorpio coming out next year. The new Scorpio will see significant improvements over the current-gen model and possibly, also the re-introduction of the AWD system. The engines are also expected to more powerful on the new-gen Scorpio and there will be much more tech on the insides as well. In fact, the Scorpio only saw its BS6 update because Mahindra did not want to leave a void in this space till the next-gen car comes out.

The BS6 Mahindra Scorpio does not have any direct rival in the Indian market right now. The Tata Safari was a competitor for the Scorpio but it has been discontinued in the BS6 era. Base variants of the Tata Harrier can however be considered a rival but that’s a five-seater SUV. There are no seven-seater SUVs in this price range currently.
