Hyundai has revealed the official prices and mileage figures of the BS6 Santro. The hatch now starts at Rs 4.57 Lakhs (ex-showroom).
Hyundai Santro is one of the last models in its lineup to receive a BS6 compliant engine. It is now costlier by Rs 27,000 with prices starting at Rs 4.57 Lakhs up to Rs 6.25 Lakhs (ex-showroom). It is still costlier than WagonR but not more than Tiago.
With that, Hyundai has also revealed the official mileage figures of Santro. With the upgrade, the efficiency has fallen down by 0.3 kmpl which is a very small number. However, when compared to its prime rivals, Santro is second in line.

As you can see, Hyundai Santro is more fuel-efficient than Tata Tiago. The difference is very small but in the real world, the Tiago produces lesser. Low efficiency is possible because Tiago has a much more powerful engine under the hood.
As for the WagonR, despite having a more powerful engine, it is still more efficient than Santro. Here again, the difference is low but we have tested both the cars and compared their mileage based on real world driving conditions.
So, WagonR 1.0 Litre is basically the most fuel efficient among India’s best three entry-level hatchbacks. Tiago would be the best in this list however, its 1.05 Litre diesel engine has been discontinued due to BS6 norms. The diesel Tiago gave a claimed mileage of 27 kmpl.

In terms of prices, Santro again comes second in line. WagonR is the cheapest, priced from Rs 4.45 Lakhs to Rs 5.94 Lakhs. As for Tiago, it starts at Rs 4.60 Lakhs going up to Rs 6.60 Lakhs (all prices ex-showroom). The latter offers more variety of variants to choose.
