Hyundai has launched the new BS6 Elantra diesel, after being discontinued for a couple of months. Elantra is now the first and only sedan in this segment to come with a BS6 compliant diesel engine. Out of the earlier four sedans in this segment, Corolla Altis and Skoda Octavia were discontinued last month.
BS6 Hyundai Elantra diesel comes with a 1.5 Litre turbo diesel engine that also comes on Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta and Verna. The engine is good for 115 PS and 250 Nm of peak torque. The diesel sedan comes mated to a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter AT. Earlier, it came with a 1.6 Litre diesel unit that produced 128 BHP and 260 Nm, making it a lot more powerful.
