Earlier, we reported how owners of the BS6 Ford Ecosport have been struggling with DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) issues. Basically, many owners of the updated Ford EcoSport have complained that the DPF error has been popping up way too often and much earlier than scheduled. Also, many have reported that even after driving the vehicle on empty stretches, the clogging continues. There was even a rumour that Ford has recalled the affected cars to solve the problem but it turned out to be a false alarm. And just when we thought things can’t go any worse, it looks like various owners are experiencing from the issue of a power loss, while some have even said that the BS6 model isn’t as powerful as the BS4 version.

In one of the Facebook groups, one Muneer Qureshi posted that he recently purchased the Ford Ecosport Titanium Sport model ad took it to Ladakh. While driving in the hills, he saw a major drop in the power, with the SUV feeling almost powerless in the second gear. He also said that he has driven the 2017 BS4 variant and the power the older model offered is ‘amazing’. Soon after he posted this, many commented that they have had a similar experience. In fact, one of those who commented mentioned that he owns both BS4 and BS6 variants of the EcoSPort Diesel and there’s a ‘great difference’ in power that the two cars produce.
Meanwhile, another person commented that the Ford Ecosport starts feeling like a Mahindra Bolero if you switch on the zircon in hilly conditions. Also, some other users commented that they have heard about this issue of power loss on the BS6 EcoSport. It must be noted here that Ford added the DPF and re-caliberated the 1.5-litre TDCi turbocharged Diesel engine to comply with the stricter emission norms. Of course, in order to lower the emissions, a loss in power is a by-product that’s expected. However, if you look at the specifications, the power output at crank remains the same.

Like the BS4 model, the BS6 Ford Ecosport diesel offers 100 PS of maximum power and 215 Nm of peak torque. However, it looks like in order to lower the emissions, there’s a definite loss in power, especially when compared to the BS4 version. Of course, things become worse when the car is driven in challenging conditions like high altitude roads. We, at CarBlogIndia, believe that Ford India should immediately address such tuning issues and even work on the DPF problem that many cars are throwing at their respective users.
