The Toyota Yaris continues with its 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, but has of course been tweaked in order to comply with the emission norms. This new BS-6 engine produces 107 bhp and 140Nm of torque, which is the same as the BS-4 spec engine. Moreover, transmission options including the 6-speed manual and 7-step CVT auto will also continue unchanged.
The BS-4 petrol engine has an ARAI-rated mileage of 17.1kpl in the manual version and 17.8kpl in the CVT version. Again, with the BS-6 upgrade, most cars usually see a drop in mileage as well and it remains to be seen if its the same for the Yaris as well. Both the automatic and the manual gearboxes are available across all four variants (J, G, V, VX) of the Yaris.

Recently, Toyota even updated the Yaris with a mid-life facelift and introduced certain new features and dual-tone paint schemes with new alloy designs as well. The facelift really makes the Yaris much more relevant and up to date in the face of rising competition.
The Yaris still remains one of the most well-equipped cars in its segment. The Toyota sedan will continue to rival the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Hyundai Verna, Honda City, Volkswagen Vento and Skoda Rapid in our market.
