The BMW X7 launch marks the entry of the BMW’s new flagship in India for the first time. It a behemoth of an SUV and sumptuously luxurious at that.
BMW has announced the date for the launch of it’s new flagship SUV, the X7 to be on July 25, 2019. The BMW X7 is a brand new SUV from BMW that sits above the X5. It also takes everything a step ahead from the X5, be it in terms of size, luxury or sheer statement. The BMW X7 will rival the likes of the Mercedes Benz GLS, – which also was just updated internationally – Audi Q7 and the Range Rover in India.
The BMW X7 is based on the CLAR platform which also underpins several other BMW cars. It underpins the 7-series sedan, the new generation X5, the 5-series and also the X3. Of course, the platform is highly modified to suit each of these cars individually. The X7 is a behemoth of a car. It is over 5 meters longs and weighs about 2.3 tonnes.
And speaking of the design, the new X7 adopts the latest BMW design language with the rather massive kidney grille up front, flanked by very slim all-LED headlamps on either sides. The grille however does not look so big in perspective because everything about the X7 is massive. The flared wheel-arches and the muscular bumpers with the large air dams scream out masculinity.
On the inside, the sight is much familiar with other new BMW models. The X7 gets the latest interior design language from BMW. The dashboard is flanked by two 12.3-inch screens – one displays the instrument cluster while the other is the infotainment screen. It features all of BMW’s fanciest features like gesture control and voice commands. The cabin just exudes luxury from every corner and the general quality of materials is right up there with the best luxury cars across every segment.

Bigger engines like the 4.4-litre, twin-turbo V8 petrol with 456 bhp, a plug-in hybrid and even an M-version are expected to come later. All engines will be mated to a 8-speed automatic transmission and get all-wheel drive as standard. You will also be getting BMW’s Dynamic Handling Package and the Off-Road Package.
