This becomes the first-ever electric BMW to be locally manufactured in India
The BMW X1 LWB Electric has been launched in India at a price of Rs 49 lakh, ex-showroom. Note that it marked its presence at the ongoing Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. It will be produced at the BMW Group’s Chennai facility in Tamil Nadu. It is available in a sole eDrive20L drivetrain. The bookings for the same are already underway. BMW X1 LWB Electric Launched – Specs
The electric SUV comes with a 66.4 kWh battery pack which is good for an MIDC-certified range of 531 km on a single charge. The electric motor mounted on the front axle produces a decent 204 hp and 250 Nm of maximum power and torque, respectively. This enables a 0 to 100 km/h acceleration time of just 8.6 seconds. It gets adaptive recuperation and one-pedal driving for added convenience. Using a 130 kW DC fast charger, the battery can be juiced up from 10% to 80% in just 29 mins (120 km added in just 10 mins). You can also go for an 11 kW AC home charger which takes 6 hours 30 mins to go from 0 to 100%.

BMW has expanded its electric portfolio in India with the latest X1 LWB Electric SUV. Note that the long wheelbase is something that Indian buyers really appreciate. People mostly use these premium high-end cars as chauffeur-driven vehicles. As a consequence, having additional space at the rear goes a long way in ensuring the utmost comfort of the passengers.
