BMW, the German Luxury car maker and Toyota, the Japanese auto giant have come together for the development of eco-friendly vehicle technologies. The two prominent car makers have agreed to conduct joint research and development work for modern next generation automobile batteries for Electric Vehicles for future. This will help both BMW and Toyota to make better batteries to power their electric cars model in future. This will help develop more economical and environment friendly cars for future with lesser investment as joint R&D saves millions of dollars invested individually by auto makers to develop new technologies.
Along with the joint R&D agreement, BMW will also supply their 1.6 Litre and 2.0 Litre engines to Toyota from 2014 for Toyota cars to be sold in Europe. This will help Toyota save on investments needed to develop additional engine assembly units. The agreement between Toyota and BMW will help Toyota to reach deeper into the European Automobile market with its high fuel efficiency and eco-friendly cars.
