As a part of its global preventive recall, BMW has recalled 3422 cars of BMW 5 Series and BMW 6 Series in India which were manufacturer between the year 2003 and the year 2010. The problem with some of these cars is that the battery cable cover in some of the cars might have been improperly mounted which may cause electrical problems like car failing to start or some other kind of electrical malfunction in the car. There are remote possibilities of fire in extreme cases, but there has not been any such incident recorded so far. This is a preventive recall to prevent any kind of inconvenience to the to BMW customers across the globe. globally, over 10 lakh such cars have been recalled for inspection and correction of any faulty battery cable cover.

The recall affects the E60 5 and 6 series cars in India and the new F10 series cars are not affected with such problems. BMW India is contacting the customers whose cars might be affected with these problems and carrying our repairs at the expanse of BMW. The repair job takes less than an hour and as it is said, prevention is better than cure, we suggest if you own a BMW 5 Series or 6 Series, its good to check with your BMW workshop or dealer if your car is affected or not.
