Lately, four red feathers were added to the colorful cap of BMW group when there designers’ team swept four Red Dot awards unanimously. Red Dot awards have been among one of the most renowned international awards. The awards were given for the best design for the year 2013. Four of BMW vehicles that won the competition due to their stunning design and unmatched quality were: the BMW 3 Series Touring, the BMW M6 Gran Coupe, BMW 1 Series, and the BMW R 1200 GS motor bike. All the four vehicles were evaluated under the “Automotive and Transportation” genre. The awards will be officially distributed on 1st July, 2013 at the Red Dot gala that will take place in the Aalto Theatres in Essen, Germany. Around 1, 200 globally known names from media, politics, and industry are being considered in the guest list.
The red dot awards are being presented since 1955 and are one of the most respected awards across the world. The awards are given for exceptionally outstanding creative works that are performed in various domains across the world. The jury team consists of 37 world known design dignitaries who evaluate each and every work of art very minutely and based on their unanimous verdict the awards are presented.
The appeal for these awards can be judged by the number of entries that are submitted for these awards every year. The number of entries registered for19 categories for 2013 counted to the figure of 4, 662. There were in all 1, 865 designers from complete world that gave their names for this award.
The four BMW vehicles that earned red dot awards stood quite apart from other vehicles of their respective segment in terms of quality and design. For e.g. the 3-door BMW 1 Series stood with a mesmerizing architecture combined with extraordinary power and other BMW characteristics. Some of the highlighting features of this car are its distinct looks, wide doors with frameless windows, vigorously running lines across its exteriors, the “free standing” design of side windows that stood apart from the B-pillars, and a very lowly slung look that gave the car an elegant sporty touch. The other three vehicles too had some of such perfect strokes that took them ahead of their counterparts.
BMW has been a constant winner of red dots awards in recent years. In 2012, the brand won over 11 prizes including two honors for “best of the best” for Husqvarna Nuda 900 R motorcycle and BMW Airflow 2 helmet. BMW 6 series convertible and BMW X3 were some of the other recipients of red dot accolades, among which BMW 5 series Touring acquired the title of “best of the best”.
