BMW has just announced that all their petrol models are BS-6 compliant along with their 2.0L diesel engine. With the update all BMW cars will get about 6% more expensive.
The BS-6 emissions deadline are just a few months ago and all car manufacturers are gearing up for the transition in full swing. Now, BMW has announced that their entire petrol line-up of models are already in compliance with the upcoming BS-6 standard. They have also said that they have commenced local assembly of its first BS6 diesel models in India – the 5 Series and 6 Series GT. Also, the X1 is slated as the next diesel model to be BS-6 compliant.
This means that the 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine which produces 190 bhp and 400 Nm of torque has been upgraded to meet the new BS-6 norms. BMW uses this engine in a wide number of cars which includes the 520d, 620d, and the X1 20d, along with a number of other BMW models like the 3 Series, X3, X4.
BMW has also said that all the new products that the carmaker has launched in India in 2019 are available in BS4 and BS6 and that starting from 2020, BMW would hike prices of its BS6-compliant models by up to 6%. That means that the X1 which is currently priced between Rs 35.20-45.70 lakh is likely to increase to Rs 37.30-48.40 lakh.
