BMW India is delivering on its promise of launching a ton of new products and variants in our market in 2021. The product offensive strategy is what BMW will be going forward with to generate more sales in the luxury car segment. BMW is the second-largest luxury car maker in India after Mercedes-Benz. ALmost both these German rivals share about 36% percent market share. BMW wants to reach the top spot and for that, it needs a lot more new products in the game. Now BMW has come up with the entry-level sedan, the 220i Sport, priced at Rs 37.90 lakh, ex-showroom, this is the most affordable BMW in the country at the moment. But that does not mean that it lacks anything. In fact, it comes with all the modern tech features and powerful engines to let you know that it is a BMW at the end of the day.

BMW 220i Sport – Exterior and Interior
The front of the 220i Sport hosts the unmistakably broad Kidney Grille, typical to the BMW DNA along with sculpted lines and sharp creases all-around the body, angled full LED Headlamps, frameless doors, prominent should lines, low and broad stance. The rear has the L-shaped full LED tail lamps which extend into the centre of the rear which look extremely slim and sleek. The front and rear bumpers on the car are also very aggressively styled. Overall the styling of the 220i Sport is in line with the typical BMW design language.
On the inside, as usual, the overall theme is driver-oriented and the cabin materials are extremely high quality. It features all the modern amenities like BMW Live Cockpit Plus includes an 8.8-inch Infotainment Display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 3D Navigation, BMW Virtual Assistant with Voice Recognition, a 5.1-inch digital instrument cluster with analog dials, Ambient Lighting with six dimmable designs, leather multifunction steering wheel, large Panorama Glass Sunroof, large 430 litres luggage compartment can be expanded by folding down the 40/20/40 split and much more.

BMW 220i Sport – Safety
The list of safety features on the BMW 220i Sport is long which includes six airbags, Attentiveness Assistance, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Brake Assist, ARB technology (actuator contiguous wheel slip limitation system), Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) including Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) and Electronic Differential Lock Control (EDLC), Cornering Brake Control (CBC), electric parking brake with auto hold, side-impact protection, electronic vehicle immobilizer and crash sensors, ISOFIX child seat mounting.

BMW 220i Sport – Engines, Prices and Rivals
The BMW 220i Sport comes with a powerful 2.0-litre twin-power turbo in-line 4 cylinder petrol engine making 190 hp and 280 Nm. The 0-100 kmph sprint comes up in just 7.1 secs. The transmission duties are carried out by the sporty and responsive 7-speed Dual-Clutch Transmission in a smooth manner. There are various drives modes to cover every possible driving requirement like ECO PRO, Comfort and Sport. To improve efficiency there are features like Auto Start-Stop and Brake-Energy Regeneration. The prices of the 220i start from Rs 37.90 lakh to go all the way up to Rs 42.30 lakh, ex-showroom. The rivals include the recently launched Mercedes-Benz A-Class Limousine and the upcoming Audi A3.
