BMW has opened bookings for the 2-Series Gran Coupe in India for a token amount of Rs 50,000 and BMW is even offering an exclusive early-bird offer on pre-bookings of the new sedan. Read on to find out more about it.
Just like Audi is bringing the new Q2 to India, BMW is also expanding their entry-level product portfolio in India with the new 2 Series Gran Coupe. Slated for a launch on October 15, BMW has now opened bookings 2 Series Gran Coupe in India. It could very well be BMW’s most affordable car in the Indian market and can be booked exclusively via the brand’s official website for a token amount of Rs 50,000. BMW has also revealed that the 2 Series Gran Coupe will be available in two trims in India – Sportline and M Sport.
BMW is also giving away a very special offer with bookings of the new 2 Series Gran Coupe. Customers who are booking the sedan before its price announcement at 12 noon on October 15, will get an early-bird offer with a complimentary Taj Experiences Gift Card worth Rs. 50,000. This gift card can be redeemed for multiple transactions on stay, holiday packages, dining, spa and other experiences across most Taj properties in India. That’s quite an incentive to go ahead and book your new BMW as we do not see such offers coming from manufacturers very often.
As for the two trims on offer, there are some differentiation between them in terms of styling and equipment on offer. The Sportline variant will come with 17-inch alloy wheels, ‘Illuminated Berlin’ interior trim with the option of five paint shades for the exterior. The M Sport variant meanwhile gets all the usual M-specific goodness that we have seen on other BMW models. That includes larger 18-inch alloy wheels with the choice of six exterior color options. It also brings in a M Sport body kit with sportier front and rear bumpers, side aprons, ‘M’ badges on the front fenders, gloss black trim around the windows and some chrome embellishment on the front grille.

On the inside, the M Sport variant additionally gets M Sport steering wheel and sporty aluminum pedals. It also gets the ‘Illuminated Boston’ interior trim. Under the hood, the BMW 2-Series Gran Coupe will be launched with a 190hp, 2.0-litre diesel engine initially and the model will be known as the BMW 220d Gran Coupe. Later, a 192hp, 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine will also join the lineup and it will be known as the 220i Gran Coupe. Both engines are expected to come mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. Power will be sent to the front-wheels only.

he BMW 2-Series Gran Coupe will be positioned below the 3-series in India and it will be the brand’s smallest four-door sedan in the country. It will be pitted directly against the upcoming Mercedes-Benz A-Class Limousine and the updated Audi A3 sedan. The BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe is actually based on the 1 Series hatchback and it also shares its underpinning with the BMW X1 SUV. When launched, the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe is expected to be priced from Rs 35 lakh, going up to Rs 38 lakh (ex-showroom) for the top-spec trims.
