The Buddh International Circuit in Noida has already opened up for track days while the MMRT in Chennai will also be open soon for track days and testing for individuals, manufacturers, and corporates.
With everything under a seize for the last two months in the country, two of India’s premier racing tracks will finally be opening up again for some fast machines and the thrill of speed. The Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida and the Madras Motor Race Track in Chennai have announced that they will be opening up over the next few weeks. Facilities in the BIC complex were even used as a quarantine facility by the local administration in the first phase of the lockdown.
The Buddh International Circuit which is India’s only FIA certified Formula 1 racing track has already started hosting private track days after the lockdown restrictions were eased out. The BIC is a 5.14 km long genius of a race track and it has hosted as many as three Formula 1 races in the past. Management of the BIC shared an online update in which they said, “We are back on track.. with action packed pedal to the metal. Let the lights go green”.
The MMRT is yet to open its doors for testing as well as track days. They are preparing to open up for manufacturers, race and individual testing and should be ready to hots enthusiasts and events over the next few weeks. The MMRT was the first permanent racing track in the country and was inaugurated in 1990. It is owned and managed by the Madras Motor Sports Club (MMSC) and is very renowned for being a technical and thrilling circuit.

In an online update, MMSC shared, “MMSC welcomes back all manufacturers, corporates & participants to it’s race/test track & thank you all in advance for respecting protocols in the race against COVID-19”. The club has announced that the facility will be open for testing from June 14. Two wheelers will be allowed on the track from 9AM to 1PM at a charge of Rs 1500 per session per rider. Meanwhile, four-wheelers will be allowed on the track from 2 PM to 6 PM at a charge of Rs 4,000 per session per driver.

Of course safety still remains paramount even though all activities will soon resume in these circuits and all Central and State mandates about social distancing and safety will be strictly followed at both the race tracks. The facilities are also being sanitized on a regular basis. This indeed is a great news for motorsport enthusiasts as the sound of roaring engines will again be heard after what has been a very quite tenure for both the tracks.
