1. Maruti Vitara Brezza – 17.03 kmpl to 18.76 kmpl
Maruti Vitara Brezza is the most efficient petrol compact SUV in India. One of the very few instances where the automatic variants are more efficient than manual ones. Vitara Brezza AT actually gives the best mileage and not the manual variant. It gets a 1.5-litre petrol engine that produces 104 BHP and 138 Nm of peak torque.
2. Hyundai Venue – 17.52 kmpl to 18.27 kmpl
When it comes to manual variants, Venue is the most fuel-efficient petrol compact SUV. Despite having a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine, it offers 18.27 kmpl of claimed mileage. The turbo engine produces 115 PS and 172 Nm of peak torque, making it one of the most powerful in the class as well. It also gets a 1.2 Litre petrol engine that is good for 83 PS and offers 17.52 kmpl.
3. Tata Nexon – 17.5 kmpl
Nexon gets a 1.2 litre three-cylinder turbo petrol engine that produces 120 PS. So, as of now, it is the second most powerful SUV in its segment. It gets a claimed mileage of 17.5 kmpl, that is the same for the 6-speed MT as well as 6-speed AMT variants. With the BS6 upgrade, the mileage of Nexon has reduced by a considerable difference.
4. Honda WRV – 17.5 kmpl
Honda WRV offers a claimed fuel efficiency of 17.5 kmpl. However, its diesel engine is very frugal, among the best in class. We, for a fact know that the claimed figures of Honda are very close to the real-world figures. WRV gets a 1.2 Litre four-cylinder iVTEC petrol engine that produces 90 PS and 110 Nm of peak torque. XUV300 with its petrol and diesel engine offers the best torque in class. It only comes with a 6-speed manual gearbox, whereas the diesel variants get an option of a 6-speed AMT.
Ford EcoSport – 16 kmpl
EcoSport is the least fuel-efficient in its segment, but the best driver’s car. It gets a 1.5 Litre four-cylinder NA petrol engine that produces 122 PS and 150 Nm of peak torque. This is the most powerful SUV in the segment and as we know, one of the best when it comes to handling. It gets a 6-speed MT and a 6-speed AT.
