Bajaj positions the Dominar 400 as a power cruiser. By that logic, it is the first and the only sub-500cc power cruiser in India. The Dominar 400 is available in two variants. Only the ABS variant of this bike makes the cut in this list. This bike’s price is Rs 1.55 lakh.

For that price, you get a liquid-cooled, fuel-injected, single cylinder, 373.3cc engine that is also found of the KTM Duke 390. In this application, the engine makes peak power of 34.5BHP and peak torque of 35Nm. The bike has a six-speed gearbox and also a slipper clutch for those times when you need to downshift quickly and safely.

There are number of unique features this bike offers. For instance, you get LED headlamps, a fully digital speedo console, dual-channel ABS and pre-load adjustable rear suspension. For Rs 1.55 lakh, that is a lot of kit on offer on the Bajaj Dominar 400 ABS.

Best Bikes Under 2 Lakhs – Royal Enfield Himalayan

The Himalayan is the only sub-500cc adventure bike you get in India. Also, it is the only adventure motorcycle on this list of best bikes under 2 lakhs in India. Made by Royal Enfield, this bike is listed on the official website as a fuel-injected (as per RE) mode. However, when it was first launched, it came with a carbureted engine. So, what’s on offer on this bike that costs Rs 1.84 lakh?

For starters, it will get an air-cooled, fuel-injected, single cylinder engine that displaces 411cc. This engine makes peak power of 24.5BHP and peak torque of 32Nm. The Himalayan sports a 5-speed gearbox. There is more to this bike than that.

The Himalayan has a high-riding suspension that helps it perform as capable off-road as on-road. It is the only Royal Enfield bike for now that has a monoshock rear suspension. Also, its speedo console is quite different from the rest of the Royal Enfield bikes or any other bike on this list as it features an altimeter and a compass.

Best Bikes Under 2 Lakhs – KTM Duke 250

In 2017, KTM did not just refresh its Duke motorcycle lineup but added another member to it. The new member is the Duke 250. It slots in between the Duke 200 and Duke 390 in KTM’s lineup and gets a number of bits from the Duke 390. So, what makes this bike, that costs Rs 1.77 lakh, worth your attention? Here’s what.

The Duke 250 is powered by a liquid-cooled, fuel-injected, single cylinder engine that displaces 248.8cc. This engine makes peak power of 31BHP and peak torque of 24Nm. The Duke 250 gets a 6-speed gearbox that also has a slipper clutch.

The Duke 250 looks as sharp as the Duke 390. While it does not get that bike’s LED headlamps, it sure does get dual-channel ABS, upside down fork up front and pre-load adjustable rear monoshock suspension. That’s quite a bit of kit you get when you pay Rs 1.77 lakh for this motorcycle, which is the only naked bike on this list of best bikes under 2 lakhs in India.

Best Bikes Under 2 Lakhs – KTM RC 200

The KTM RC200 is the only full-blown sportbike on this list. KTM also updated this bike for 2017 but the updates were so minor that most would have difficulty telling the current RC 200 and the one it replaces apart. This bike costs a cool Rs 1.76 lakh. But what do you get upon spending that much cash?

The RC200 has a liquid-cooled, fuel-injected, single cylinder, 199.5cc engine onboard. This engine has a peak power output of 25BHP and peak torque output of 19.2Nm. THis bike sends all this power and torque to the rear wheel via a 6-speed gearbox, which makes do without a slipper clutch.

In terms of unique features, the RC 200 offers upside-down front suspension, projector headlamps with LED DRLs and turn indicators that have been integrated into the rear-view mirrors. Also, this bike is the only one on this list to have an underslung exhaust.

Best Bikes Under 2 Lakhs – Royal Enfield Classic 500

The Classic 500 is one of the many cruiser motorcycles on this list of best bikes under 2 lakhs in India. It is also perhaps the first bike from Royal Enfield to sport a fuel-injected engine. Royal Enfield sells this bike in a number of special edition colour schemes and equips it with a 350cc engine. However, since the Classic 350 costs less than Rs 1.50 lakh, it merits no mention here.

The Classic 500 is equipped with an air-cooled, fuel-injected, single cylinder engine that displaces 499cc. This engine makes peak power of 27.2BHP and peak torque of 41.3Nm. This engine is paired to a five-speed gearbox. Keeping the fuel injection system aside, this motor is a relatively simple unit featuring Overhead Valve (OHV) design.

The Classic 500 sports a 5-step pre-load adjustable rear suspension and is one of the only two fuel-injected bikes on this list to have a kick-starter too. This bike features a single seat with springs for the rider, though you can have it in dual-seat configuration too. Lastly, it is the only bike on this list to sport thigh pads from the factory, which add to this bike’s vintage looks.

The Thunderbird range of Royal Enfield features products for touring enthusiasts. The Bullet 500 has preload-adjustable twin-spring rear suspension. This is the second bike, after the Classic 500, to sport a kick starter with its fuel-injected engine. Unlike other Royal Enfield bikes on this list, this is the only to have a single seat for both rider and pillion instead of the split-seat arrangement on other bikes.

UM Motorcycles is an American motorcycle maker that has come to India in partnership with Lohia Motors. It offers two motorcycles in India. The Renegade Sports S is one of them. This bike is similar to the Renegade Commando, barring the fact that it has a bikini fairing to separate it from the Commando. It costs a cool Rs 1.63 lakh too. So, let’s take a look at what it offers for that price.

The UM Renegade Sports S is powered by a liquid-cooled, fuel-injected, single cylinder engine that has a displacement of 279.5cc. This engine has a peak power output of 24.8BHP and a peak torque output of 23Nm. A six-speed gearbox takes care of transmission duties on the motorcycle.

In terms of the features, the UM Renegade Sports S has LED lights all around the bike. This helps in rider visibility at the night to avoid accidents. The bike is one of the two bikes to sport a USB mobile phone charging socket (the other one also is a UM product).

The Renegade Commado is another bike that UM Motorcycles sells in India. Consider it a Renegade Sports S minus the bikini fairing. However, the two bikes are separated by more than just a bikini fairing. For instance, the Renegade Commando, at Rs 1.68 lakh, costs more than the Renegade Sport S.

The UM Renegade Commando has a liquid-cooled, fuel-injected single cylinder engine with a displacement of 279.5cc. This bike has a peak power output of 24.8BHP and peak torque output of 23Nm. The Renegade Commando sends all its power and torque to the rear wheel via a 6-speed gearbox.

The Renegade Commando sports fuel tank-mounted speedo console, which makes it the only bike in this list to have such a feature. Just like the Renegade Sports S, this bike has a USB mobile phone charging socket. However, it does not have the Renegade Sports S’ all-around LED illumination.
