Benelli is considering making a debut in the Indian Automatic scooter scenario. Speculations suggest that the scooter will be placed on the premium end.
After making a comeback in the premium motorcycle market, Benelli is planning to expand in the 250-500cc two-wheeler segment. For 2019, the Italian brand has scheduled many exciting products.
Based on various reports, many two-wheeler manufacturers in India are trying to grab the premium scooter segment, which includes 150cc and above. Currently, Aprilia and Vespa are the only ones in this segment.
Similarly, Benelli is also planning to launch a premium scooter in India. It is speculated that its first scooter will be a premium 250cc scooter, which is on sale in the global markets.

The Zafferano 250 EFI is the brand’s scooter in the global market. It is a maxi-scooter – scooters with a unusual large front apron, primarily meant for touring purposes.
The maxi scooter comes with a water-cooled SOHC 250cc engine, that delivers 18.1 BHP and 20 Nm of peak torque. The scooter also gets Electronic Fuel Injection, for better mileage as well as performance.
For suspension purposes, Benelli Zafferano 250 uses telescopic forks at the front and adjustable monoshock at the back. Braking is handled by twin discs at the front and a single disc at the back paired with ABS.

Features onboard include ABS, Electronic Fuel Injection, Twin-Pod instrument cluster, Distance to Empty, a tall windscreen, Twin headlamps and a large underseat storage option.
Interestingly, spy shots of the Zafferano surfaced up in 2017. It was being tested on the Indian roads without any camouflage. However, as Benelli’s partnership ended with DSK, it might have been ruled out for the Indian market.
Currently, the Italian brand has partnered with Adishwar Auto Ride India (AARI) to manufacture and sell two-wheelers in India. The first one from the partnership was TRK 502 Adventure motorcycle.

Other brands like Yamaha, UM-Lohia Auto and Honda Two Wheelers are also planning to bring 150cc scooters to the Indian market. Yamaha Nmax 150 is long speculated to launch in India.
