Benelli is reportedly launching the Leoncino scrambler in India this month. It will be Benelli’s third new launch in India going against the Harley Davidson Street 750.
Benelli restarted its operations in India in partnership with AMW Motorcycles. Earlier this year, it launched the TRK 502 and 502X adventure motorcycles, as their first offering for the Indian market.
Now, reports suggest that Benelli is going to launch the Leoncino scrambler-styled motorcycle in India this month. The bookings for the bike have commenced unofficially for amounts ranging between Rs 10000 to Rs 35000. The deliveries are expected to commence by the end of next month.
Benelli Leoncino will be the most affordable scrambler in India, falling in the middle-weight engine capacity. In the international markets, you can find the bike available in three models – Standard, Trail and Sport – but we are likely to get the Standard variant.

Benelli Leoncino uses a 500cc parallel-twin liquid-cooled engine that also comes on the TRK series. The engine produces 46.8 BHP at 8500 RPM and 46 Nm of peak torque at 6000 RPM. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox.
Since we are likely to get the road-spec Standard variant, it will run on 17-inch alloy wheels. The bike is built on a steel Trellis frame. It gets a single step up seat but with no pillion grab rails. Other styling bits include a retro-shaped headlamp, a sporty rear tire hugger and the slightly lowered riding stance.
For suspension, it uses inverted USD forks at the front and a monoshock at the back. For braking, it uses 320mm dual discs at the front and a 260mm disc at the back with dual-channel ABS as standard.

Features onboard will include full LED headlamps, low-placed single-piece handlebar, LED taillights, a fully digital instrument console and a single seat. Also, you get the retro-scrambler styling as one of its biggest highlights.
Talking about its competition, Benelli Leoncino faces the nearest competition from the Ducati Scrambler 800, which is priced much higher. So, in the expected price range of under Rs 5 Lakhs, it might face some competition from Kawasaki Z650.
