The much-awaited 400-cc avatar of the Bajaj Pulsar has been leaked online highlighting a few key details.
In a latest report, the Bajaj Pulsar NS400 has been leaked prior to the launch in black colour. I must mention here that the large Pulsar seems to have been inspired by NS200 in terms of design. It seems like Bajaj wants to ensure that it prices the motorcycle aggressively to stand out in this segment. That is why the exterior is not that flashy and the powertrain will most likely be borrowed from the Dominar. Let us take a look at the details of what has been revealed.

The visuals highlight design elements from the NS200. The main components include an LED projector headlamp, thunderbolt-styled DRLs, a muscular fuel tank, large tank extensions, a headlight cowl, a belly pan, alloy wheels and a sporty black colour theme. There are also red and grey body graphics to accentuate its streetfighter demeanour. The tail end bears a sleek profile with the silhouette of the slim grab handles visible in the video.
Apart from that, some mechanical parts also come to light. These incorporate a perimeter frame, gold-coloured USD front forks at the front and monoshock absorber at the rear, and a box-section swingarm. Clearly, these elements indicate that the bike has been designed to maximize performance while keeping the costs in check by using design cues from its smaller sibling. Additionally, a compact digital instrument cluster was also seen in the visuals with Bluetooth connectivity. The NS400 will even get ABS modes and perhaps a Traction Control System.

Expected Specs and Prices
I don’t expect the Pulsar NS400 to carry any other powertrain but the one found in the Dominar 400. This is a 373cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine which produces 40 hp and 35 Nm of peak power and torque. This engine pairs with a 6-speed transmission. It is possible that there might be slight tweaks to the power and torque output, but not much (if at all). The NS400 will even feature an underbelly exhaust which adds to the overall sporty stance of the bike. With an expected price tag of around Rs 2 lakh, the Bajaj Pulsar NS400 is slated to be one of the most affordable 400-cc bikes in the country.
Our View
Bajaj Pulsar is a household name in our country. Bajaj offers products in all major categories of our market. In fact, it has enjoyed overwhelming success in all segments until 250cc. But its Dominar 400 has never sold as well as it would’ve liked. A Pulsar’s version of the 400-cc bike could do the trick to fetch new customers who are looking for a performance motorcycle at relatively affordable prices. We shall have to wait to see how well the customers embrace the new flagship model from Bajaj.
