The Pulsar NS400 will make things in the 400-cc segment quite interesting for potential buyers.
The much-anticipated Bajaj Pulsar NS400 has been leaked before the official launch. Pulsar is a household name in the Indian automobile industry. Bajaj makes sure that it offers some models of the Pulsar in all major categories in our market. While the small and mid-capacity Pulsars have enjoyed a major market share in their respective categories, the Indian two-wheeler giant has always struggled in the 400-cc space. Its existing Dominar 400 has not been doing as well as it would’ve wanted. This warranted a 400-cc Pulsar which is what led to the creation of the NS400. Let us check out the details of the upcoming model.

Bajaj Pulsar NS400 Leaked
These images have surfaced online. They showcase the vivid appearance of the motorcycle. In fact, the bike is clearly visible from the front and the side. At the front, we get to witness the LED projector headlamp cluster which looks like it has been borrowed from the Pulsar N250. In fact, many elements of the NS400 look inspired by the smaller siblings of the Pulsar 400 including the N250 and NS200. In addition to the headlamp cluster, the NS400 also gets a striking LED DRL setup with an angular S-shaped or Thunderbolt-shaped pattern. The front profile looks quite aggressive with a broad single-pieced handlebar and sharp turn indicators.
In addition to that, we also get to experience broad tyres with a striking alloy wheel design. The fuel tank is muscular and the naked body type means an absence of fairing. Still, the split-seat setup and rugged side body panels finished in black protect the engine components well. The tail section is sleek and marked by thin grab handles and a compact tyre hugger. The rear tyre is notably broader than the front tyre, a typical trait of performance motorcycles.

Expected Specs
The visuals confirm a lot of exterior details and potential features. However, the specification details still elude us, at least officially. I expect it to carry the same powertrain as the Dominar 400 with a slightly tweaked output. This means a 373.2 cc liquid-cooled DOHC fuel-injected engine. Even the transmission could be the same, which is a 6-speed manual gearbox along with a dual-channel ABS with different modes. This transmission will make use of a slipper and assist clutch for smooth gearshifts. Moreover, it will come with 41 mm USD forks at the front and a monoshock absorber at the rear. Interestingly, some news reports also suggest that it might get a larger 399-cc mill.

Features
Being the flagship model from Bajaj, the Pulsar NS400 will offer tons of comfort, connectivity and convenience amenities. While not all of them have been revealed, we can venture a few logical guesses. For instance, these leaked images demonstrate plain red body paint without graphics. But we are sure that the production version will have dedicated body graphics to accentuate the road presence and appearance. Apart from that, we will get a lot of modern features including:
- All-Digital Instrument Cluster
- Bluetooth Connectivity
- Navigation
- Traction Control
- LED Headlamps
- 17-inch Alloy Wheels
- Vehicle Telematics
- Call and SMS Alerts
- Sporty Paint Options

Expected Price and Launch Date
While we await the official confirmation regarding the launch date of the upcoming Bajaj Pulsar NS400, some reports suggest that the deliveries are slated to commence later this year. Hence, the launch might take place toward the latter part of this year (2024). Apart from that, we expect the prices to be around Rs 2 lakh, ex-showroom. That will put it in the vicinity of its smaller siblings, as well as the Dominar 400. The rivals include the likes of KTM RC 390, Ninja 300, Benelli TNT300, Yamaha R3, and TVS Apache RR310.

Author’s Note
Bajaj has been testing the Pulsar 400 for quite some time now. Due to the rather underwhelming performance and success of the Dominar 400 in our market, the launch of the Pulsar model in this space seemed logical. In fact, we have reported innumerable digital renditions of the Pulsar 400 from many talented artists over the course of the last couple of years. That is why it excites us immensely to see the Pulsar NS400 in the flesh, even if it is partially. Since the model is so close to production, we can expect a ceremony to mark its debut soon. The official unveiling would throw more light on the design, features and powertrains. Let us keep an eye out for more details in this regard.
