Digital automobile artists have a unique way of devising attractive renditions to make the vehicles look much more enticing than their stock appearance.
This latest Bajaj Pulsar concept looks quite sporty in this digital avatar. Pulsar is a household name in our country that has existed for almost 2 decades now. The Bajaj Pulsar 220 was first introduced in our market in June 2009 and has remained a popular product ever since. However, there was a brief period recently when it was discontinued due to arrival of the more modern siblings. But the strong demand ensured that Bajaj had to bring it back. Over the years, there have been tons of updates making it stay relevant despite the stiff competition. Still, though, it’s a dated product that has a strong legacy but lacks in many aspects when compared to its peers. The digital illustration here, though, re-imagines the sporty motorcycle in a much more modern avatar.

Bajaj Pulsar 220 Concept
This latest illustration has been conceptualized by abin_designs_511 on Instagram. The visual shows a striking motorcycle that seems to have build up on the aesthetics of the Pulsar 220. It is due to this that we feel that the concept could be the perfect successor of the existing model. At the front, there is a striking resemblance with the 220. The concept has pretty much the same headlamp and similar creases on the fairing. However, it even features a taller, more curvaceous windscreen. Even the fairing is larger and would remind you of the RS200 due to the graphics. Moving ahead, it even carries a different frame and much sleeker panels. The sculpted fuel tank and the blacked out cycle parts make the motorcycle look quite mean when viewed in profile. Other highlights include a sporty split-seat setup, underbelly exhaust pipe and a rear tyre hugger.

Specs
Since this could be a successor to the Pulsar 220, it makes sense to power it with the Pulsar 250-sourced BS6-compliant 249-cc single-cylinder 4-stroke oil-cooled engine that makes a healthy 24.5 PS @ 8,750 RPM and 21.5 Nm @ 6,500 RPM of peak power and torque. It is mated to a 5-speed constant mesh gearbox. There are disc brakes at the front and rear. It even shows an inverted telescopic suspension at the front and a monoshock with Nitrox suspension at the rear. All in all, the motorcycle previewed by the concept looks decidedly sporty. It’s definitely much more modern than the 220 and has the right hardware. From our experience with the P250, it’s clear that new engine is actually the right replacement for the old-age 220cc mill. The newer motor not only has the grunt that’s typical of a Pulsar but it’s even more refined and overall a more sophisticated engine.

What We Think
Bajaj has been selling the Pulsar 220 with minor updates and an almost similar powertrain for years now. There are millions of fans of the entire Pulsar range. But we would appreciate a refreshed version of the 220, one that ditches its ties with the old model and brings something new to the table. There is healthy competition in the segment and staying at the top of the game is needed. Bajaj could easily leverage its image and legacy to woo customers to a more modern version of the Pulsar 220. Let us see if that comes to pass.
