INCOMING – Bajaj Pulsar 200NS FI

We were the first to report about Bajaj Auto‘s plans of re-launch its 200cc street-naked, the Pulsar 200NS. And now it seems Bajaj will soon re-launch 200 NS in India. The revelation came as Bajaj shared a teaser image on social media. The 200NS was discontinued soon after the advent of the Pulsar RS200 and the Pulsar AS200. The former sports a fuel-injected version of the 200NS’ motor. Now, Bajaj seems to have decided to plonk the fuel injected (FI) motor into the 200NS, too. It is worth a mention here that the Bajaj Pulsar 200NS FI is already on sale in Indonesia, where it is being sold alongside the Pulsar 150 DTSi and the Pulsar 180 DTSi. Our guess is that the Bajaj Pulsar 200NS FI price would be roughly INR 95,000. This would make the upcoming model the most inexpensive fuel-injected bike in the 200cc segment.

Bajaj Pulsar 200NS FI Specifications

The Bajaj Pulsar 200 NS FI will be powered by the same 199.5 cc, 4-stroke, SOHC, 4 valve, liquid cooled, single cylinder engine as earlier. However, for its second innings, this engine will gain a Fuel Injection unit. Peak power-torque, at 23.52 PS-18.3 Nm, remains unchanged.

Visually, there won’t be many new bits. However, the re-launched 200NS will get new dual-tone color schemes and a re-located Pulsar insignia. 

Bajaj Pulsar 200NS FI Fuel Mileage

The addition of a FI unit should make the Pulsar 200NS slightly more fuel efficient. Our guess is that the bike would have an ARAI-certified fuel mileage of upto 50 km/l.

The first-ever Pulsar to have featured fuel injection is the now discontinued Pulsar 220 FI, which was once BAL’s flagship model. However, back then, Bajaj couldn’t do a very good job at tuning the system, which led to customers facing niggling issues and the ultimate demise of the model. But now, with the technological advancements that Bajaj has made in recent times, the introduction of FI should make the prospective customers a relatively happier lot.
