And what better example to site in this category than the Bajaj Dominar 400.
The Dominar 400 is currently Bajaj’s flagship motorcycle and it has been grown hugely popular for how effortlessly it can munch miles on the highway. In fact, you will find a lot of Dominars frequently taking the trip to Leh these days. Its very important for touring motorcycles to be able to hold triple digit speeds on the highways consistently and the Dominar does it effortlessly. But coming back to adventure motorcycles, one of the most affordable premium adventure tourers currently available in the country is the BMW G310 GS. Both the Dominar 400 and the G310 GS are meant for long-distance touring but what happens when you put them against each other?

Both the Dominar 400 and the G310 GS get off the line almost at the same pace and they are neck and neck till about the 100 km/hr speed. However, beyond this, the Dominar really comes in its stride and continues to pull strongly even in higher triple digit speeds while the G310 GS gradually falls behind. The Dominar has clear advantage on paper in terms of power and displacement and that shows in the results here as well. There’s however another factor that comes in the play. The G310 GS is a tall motorcycle and isn’t the most aerodynamically efficient. The wind blast at such speeds is so high that the rider can’t take the G310 GS beyond 147 km/hr. Meanwhile, the sleeker design of the Dominar cuts through the wind more efficiently and it even touches a speed of 160 km/hr. The Dominar even has windsheild and that really helps its case.
